Soul and Spirit, the Difference

Usually I write articles myself, but I came across this piece on Youtube in a video I stumbled upon, I felt it is very important to post for everybody.  It resonated so strongly in me that I transcribed, translated from Russian and will post in both languages.  The video claimed that these words were from Edgar Cayce, clairvoyant healer and psychic (1877–1945), but I am not sure and have no interest to check.  The words are TRUTH that resonates in me, and thats what matters, this is why I am posting it here. Take the time to go through a few lines at a time.

*********

Your Spirit is not your Soul, and confusion between them is the main reason most people remain trapped in an aimless existence, never touching their true divine spark.

Spirit is the direct breath of the Creator, a powerful impersonal life force sustaining the Universe.
The Soul is the individual record of every thought, action, and desire you have ever expressed throughout vast time.

One is the engine of life, the other is the driver who must ultimately answer for every turn on this road.

Understanding this boundary is the only way to stop reacting to the world and begin fulfilling the mission for which you were called into existence.

Most people live and die without realizing the threefold mystery operating in a two-dimensional reality.

Tell me, do you feel like a passenger in your own life? Or do you truly know the Essence inhabiting your flesh?

The architecture of a human being is not a vague unified substance. It is a precise trinity: body, mind, and Soul, supported by Spirit.

To understand the difference between Soul and Spirit, one must return to the origin of consciousness itself.

Spirit is the power of God. It is primordial energy. Light preceding all form, and the flow of life moving through every atom of creation. It is universal, unchanging, and indestructible.

It has no personality, no memory, no destiny. It simply is.

Spirit is the force you breathe. It is the electricity igniting your synapses.

It is the divine substance connecting you to the source of all existence.

Without Spirit, the physical body is merely clay, and the Soul is a shadow without light.

It is the fuel of the cosmos. It belongs to God. The Soul, however, is a separate creation.
It is the gift of individuality, given so that a part of the divine could become a companion to the whole.  When Spirit entered form and space, the Soul was created as the instrument of self-awareness.

Unlike Spirit, the collective ocean of force, the Soul is a drop of that ocean with its own vessel. It is the “I am” within “I am.”

The Soul is the only part of a human being possessing free will. It is the seat of subconsciousness, the storage of every experience, and the Essence that remains when the body returns to earth and Spirit to its source.

The Soul is not static. It is an evolving record of how you have used the power of Spirit. It is your true Self.

Imagine the connection between a hand, a glove, and the impulse of movement. The physical body is the glove—temporary and limited.

The Soul is the hand inhabiting the glove, giving it form and direction.

Spirit is the vital impulse, the neural signal enabling movement itself. The hand can exist without the glove, but the glove is useless without the hand. And more importantly, the signal—Spirit—is what makes movement possible.

Yet the signal does not care whether the hand forms a fist or opens in peace. That choice belongs entirely to the Soul.

This is the fundamental tension of human existence. You are the Soul using a portion of divine Spirit to animate a physical vessel.

Spirit provides life. Soul provides purpose.

The Soul was created in the beginning. It does not begin at physical conception and does not end at physical death. It is an eternal traveler.

In its original state, the Soul existed in perfect harmony with Spirit, aligned with divine will.

But through free will, the Soul began to seek its own path, entering the material world to experience embodiment and the illusion of separation.

This was not an error, but it became a trap when the Soul began to identify more with the body it inhabited than with the Spirit that sustained it.

The Soul became entangled in the consequences of its own choices and built a wall of ego and desire, obscuring its divine origin. That wall is what we call personality.

Personality is the mask the Soul wears in a single lifetime, shaped by environment, genetics, and circumstances of birth.

But the Soul is the actor behind the mask, and Spirit is the light of the theatre itself.

Most people mistake the mask for the actor and the theatre for the entire world.

They believe Spirit and Soul are the same, leading to the illusion that simply being alive is the same as being spiritual.

This is a profound misunderstanding. To be alive is a gift of Spirit, but to be spiritual is the conscious work of the Soul.

Spirit flows equally through saint and sinner, just as the sun shines on the just and unjust.

Spirit does not judge, does not learn, and does not change.

The Soul must learn. The Soul must judge itself. The Soul must evolve until it returns to unity with Spirit.

The Soul is a record.

This record is not written in ink or stored in the physical brain. It is engraved into the very fabric of spiritual substance surrounding existence.

Every thought, every word, every action is vibration. These vibrations do not disappear into nothing. They are captured by the Soul as a permanent energetic pattern.

While Spirit remains untouched by the material world, the Soul carries the weight of its own history.

When the Soul enters a body, it brings this record with it, often manifesting as talents, fears, or tendencies without visible origin in this life.

This is the blueprint. The Soul builds the body. Spirit is the architect’s force, but the Soul is the architect’s plan.

Spirit provides raw life energy; the Soul determines how that energy is distributed.

This is why no two people are the same, even spiritually. Spirit is one, but Souls are many.

The Soul is the principle of individuality, allowing God to experience Himself through infinite expressions.

But individuality is a double-edged sword.  It enables creativity and love, but also ego and separation.

Spirit knows no separation. It is universal unity.

The Soul can choose to live as if it is isolated, disconnected from the whole. That choice creates friction called suffering.  Suffering is the Soul’s reaction to misalignment with Spirit.

When the Soul uses Spirit against divine order, it creates dissonance in its own vibration.

This is like a musician playing a perfect instrument but producing a broken melody.
The instrument is not at fault, but the result is chaos. This dissonance must be resolved.

The Soul cannot discard its past actions; it must face, understand, and transform them.
This is purification.

Spirit patiently waits, sustaining life while the Soul continues its journey. It never interferes with free will but is always ready to restore harmony.

The mind is the bridge. It allows the Soul to interact with both physical and spiritual realms.
It is the tool through which the Soul directs Spirit.

The mind has two aspects: conscious and subconscious. The subconscious holds the record, and Spirit flows through it to shape reality.  When you think, you use Spirit to create mental form.
When that form is held with repetition and intensity, the Soul begins to build it into physical experience.

Thus the Soul becomes either master of its destiny or slave to desire.

Spirit serves mind. Mind serves will. Will is the highest attribute of the Soul.  This is the power that directs the Soul toward Spirit or toward matter.

In physical life, the Soul often forgets its spiritual nature because the senses are loud and demanding.  The body calls for comfort, power, and satisfaction.

The Soul, trapped in material illusion, mistakes these demands for its own needs.
It uses Spirit to build castles of sand, believing safety exists in what is temporary.

But Spirit is eternal.  When the body falls away, the Soul sees that everything built through material use of Spirit disappears.  Only character remains.

Character is the true wealth of the Soul.

Every act of kindness refines the Soul. Every act of cruelty thickens it.

Spirit does not change. It remains pure light.

The Soul either allows that light to pass through or blocks it.  This is the difference between grace and struggle.

Grace is alignment with Spirit. Struggle is resistance to it.

Spirit is the Father. Soul is the Son.  The Father gives life. The Son expresses it and returns experience.

The purpose of the Soul’s journey is to reach the state: “Not my will, but Thine.”
This is not loss of individuality, but its perfection.

When the Soul becomes fully transparent to Spirit, it becomes a co-creator with God.
Return is inevitable.  The longing within is the memory of unity with Spirit.

The Soul cannot find rest in impermanence.  The Soul experiences death.  When the body dies, Spirit withdraws life, and the Soul remains with the results of its journey.  In this state, the Soul sees itself clearly. This is judgment—not punishment, but truth.

All Souls are governed by cause and effect.
What is sown in Spirit is reaped in the Soul.

Spirit gives power, but the outcome belongs to the Soul.
You are not a human having a spiritual experience.
You are a Soul directing divine force in human form.

This mastery is the purpose of existence.

The example is {...} a state of spiritual awakening, self-realization, or Oneness
It is the state of total transparency between Soul and Spirit.

This is the goal of every Soul.

To reach it, the Soul must direct mind and will toward Spirit rather than matter.
It must quiet personality to hear Spirit.  This is not passive—it is the work of will.

And now the question:
You are the architect, builder, and inhabitant of your world.
What if your life is the lesson your Soul chose?
What if even pain is a teacher?

If you cannot see Spirit in others, you cannot see it in yourself.
And if you cannot see it in yourself, you are not living—you are merely existing.

Spirit is not a reward. It is reality.  But the Soul must become capable of holding it.
It must be refined until only the pure reflection of the Creator remains.

You have the power to change the record.
The question is not whether God is with you.
The question is whether you are with God.

Your mission is not to find Spirit.
Your mission is to remove the barriers within the Soul.
This is the only work that matters.

The door is open. The light is present. The rest is up to you.

I talked to ChatGPT today for the first time, so I am not a virgin anymore :)). I wanted to see how clear and deep AI will go with me about the subject. I wanted to see what it can and can't do. Here is my simple discovery: ChatGPT can pull out any kind of information available by this time on the internet, analyze and summarize in a very clear way, in a blink of an eye, and I loved that! If the question is precise, it will give you the answer. But where I saw we, real humans, better? I will tell you on my own personal example, on what I do. I am an intuitive, and people come to me with problems they THINK they have. I talk to them and see that their issue is not in what they thought, but something deeper. I was always highly intuitive and worked with people on a very deep level, but now I also use ancient energies of Runes as an instrument. They immediately show me ENERGIES present in a situation: what's in subconscious mind, what in conscious, what's in energy field, emotionally, what energies present in a social circle about this issue, what's going on actually in physical reality, and much more.... I see a comprehensive picture of ENERGIES. This is it: ChatGPT pulls the information, Runes pull the energies. Both are DATA, one is information based, another - energy based. I come into the picture as an Intuitive and can use this data, from both sources, in my work. I am only using data from Runes, I never engaged with ChatGPT until today. But I can see how I can utilize AI's information based data, just for my personal research. I will continue to write my imperfect blog posts myself, with some grammar mistakes that only human can make now, so you know its me, still here :) But, lets see where ChatGPT can't fill in for me, the real human intuitive. For example, someone came to me recently with this inquary: "Elena, can we look up if this profession will work for me?" I did a diagnostic on that question and saw that it doesn't matter what kind of proffession or field of work he is talking about, the issue is deeper, and it will be hard, very hard, if not impossible, to actually get employed in that area without addressing this underlying issue (I will not voice the issue here, because it was very personal). I asked a few questions and I told him: "Lets look into your current relationship (just an example, we could look into anything in his life, but it was just intuitively right in that man's example, as it turned out). "By looking at this important relationship, we can see what energies are present in your life", I said to him, "then we will have more clear picture why you actually hit rock bottom and not sure about anything, and the job too." Runes open the situation, make hidden seen, and my conversation with the person goes into completely different direction, deeper, much deeper, it's not scripted in any way at all, I am not confined by any kind of rules or algorythms, it depends on the situation, this become a very personal coaching, a mentoring, or sometimes a ministry, for a person to start seeing what is, the truth, and recreate themselves, drop all the illusions that are on the way of a better life for them. And in a case of this particular man, it was a matter of survival for him and his family, so I manifested for him myself what it means to be completely open, honest with yourself, willing to change, I filled the space with real energy of inspiration and courage, so he could snap out of whatever was holding him, and actual transformation began. Can ChatGPT serve in this way? No. Definitely interesting and helpful instrument, but if you are a real human, you are magical Being that can impact this Reality with energy, with consciousness, with Love, compassion, empathy, creativity, and real Wisdom that is a culmination of it all. 🙏

Question: Elena, how exactly Runes bring me to clarity and why I need clarity, when I think I already know whats going on in my life?

We all have our unique tone, unique vibration, the unique song to sing in this lifetime. Please do not take on someone else's song, there is no song better then your own, truly. You know it, but your vocal cords are so tight from trying to sing the song that is not yours, that nothing comes out, and you are silently listening to others who sing theirs, who are fully living themselves, while you are hiding, unfulfilled, frustrated, secretly bitter, uninspired, and unhappy. Find a courage to sing your own! The world needs to hear it!

In these very chaotic and crazy times, in which we happened to live, I am opening myself in all kinds of ways to help people to find out the answers to their questions to come into inner balance, and perhaps even harmony in themselves. After decades of my own inner work, years of hard-core meditation, deep spiritual revelations, and work in the field of coaching, I now open to work in a different way, on a town market, so I can help people from diverse walks of life. In classical Zen meditation text "10 Bulls", or Ten Ox-herding pictures, the journey of the adept goes through different stages of development, and ends on a market. Not in a complete dissolution of the mind and expansion of Consciousness, no, all this happens in the preceding stage. The last stage of the spiritual path is where one finds himself on a market, right in the middle of the town's bazaar! Yes, in modern times it can be Internet or the office in town, but in my story I arrived to a town's market, 100% classical Zen! :)

If your spiritual search does not lead to clarity how this illusion operate and you still need to listen to the information channels of the System what you have to do in times of chaos, you are fooling yourself, and if you also assumed a role of a teacher or any kind of authority people follow, then you fool others as well. People, don’t be fools and don’t follow fools. You only will know with your heart, the feeble voice, the feeble feeling straight from there. If anything, train yourself through these times to listen to that feeble sign for you to recognize, never disregard it. As soon as you notice, get quite, listen. Get curious about it, inquire, ask about it, ask to show you more, do not resist, soften, submit, listen. It is very important you get in touch with that in an intimate way, you and feebleness, get closer. ✨✨✨❤️

She spoke to me softly in the recorded message, I could hear the music of her presence in my room. I tuned in to my own presence with precision that is not always available. She was telling me how helpful was my letter I wrote her a day before at night, how she felt cared, understood and seen in her inquiry. Her voice was like a sound of the brook on a backyard of my old house I could listen to it for hours, sitting still, hypnotised by the rhythm and melody, and most importantly, this subtle vibration of love. Her message was only couple of minutes, but I was taken on a journey of the heart unexpectedly when my whole being suddenly trembled, and I wept uncontrollably. I noticed how her words were landing on the invisible shield that appeared right before the word could dive into my heart. The shield was constructing itself in a matter of split second and was becoming a catching net for lovingkindness and gratitude. Her voice, full of respect, appreciation and warmth was bouncing off this invisible resistance line where the heart contracts just enough not to allow love to enter. The love that is so natural, innocent and true was held at the door with a sign: “No trespassing”. But with the heart’s yearning for truth and authenticity the body ripped webs of resistance with a spontaneous cry. I am back to listening. As suddenly as this storm started, it had passed. I sit in softness of my own being, in complete acceptance. I just re-discovered again that listening without resistance is love. As thinking mind is able to give up holding the fort, and as it opens all the unexplored, unavailable, untouched, un-nurtured spaces, her voice and her recognition softly asks me to be available for lovemaking to my own heart.
